Evaporators are used to cool air (gas) by transferring heat to freon (R) boiling refrigerant in the tubes. Air evaporators are widely used in various refrigeration systems, chillers and heat pumps. Structurally, the evaporator is a heat exchanger consisting of copper pipes installed in rows in a rectangular heat exchanger body. The pipes are also sequentially soldered into common collectors, which are also made of red-copper pipes of a larger diameter. The collectors are combined into one inlet and one outlet. The outer part of the pipes has plates made of brass, aluminum, steel, performing the function of ribbing to intensify the processes of heat exchange with gases. The plates provide efficient heat exchange between air (gases) and freon inside the pipes. The heat transfer coefficient K, in evaporators with forced air circulation across the pipes, reaches values of 18-36 W / (m2 K), and in evaporators with natural convection 4-5 W / (m2 K).
Air evaporators can be designed for all types of refrigerants, including modern ozone safe ones.
